HKJA condemns the assaults against Front-line Journalists

Hong Kong Journalists Association has received a report about an attack on TVB journalists while they were covering today’s (14 July) demonstration in Shatin.

According to report, a reporter and photographer from TVB News were first insulted and then hit and kicked by the protestors while reporting the protest activities in Shatin. When the reporter was attempting to ask for accountability, he was choked by a protester from behind.

HKJA condemns such violent behavior and demands the relevant individuals to stop their violent action against journalists. HKJA believes that every front-line journalist is sincerely carrying out his/her duties of reporting and exercising the role of the fourth estate, which should not be infringed.
