After the arrest of several Next Digital senior executives and journalists days earlier by the National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force, media sources indicated that Apple Daily’s chief editorial writer Li Ping was arrested as well. HKJA strongly condemns the arrest of media workers, and would like to remind HKPF and the Government that doubts will be raised over ‘literary inquisition’ with the reckless arrest of journalists, eroding freedom of the press of Hong Kong at the end.
HKJA requests the HKPF to give more details of the case, and reminds the Government of the damage to the international reputation of Hong Kong if the bases of the Fourth Right are shaken as a result of ‘white terror’ over journalists.
