HKJA urges the police for an explanation on the incident of a police vehicle driving into a group of reporters which caused injuries

Hong Kong Journalists Association received reports that a police car drove into a group of reporters who were working outside Eastern Magistracy yesterday afternoon (3 July). At that time, the police car was sending a defendant to the Magistracy, it suddenly accelerated towards the court car park without using any direction indicators. Reporters were nearly hit by the police car, a number of them got injured. Two reporters were sent to hospital for further treatment. HKJA expresses concern to the incident. We urge the Police to remind their frontline officers to drive in a safe manner and explain to the public after investigation. Any police officers found violating the rules should be punished impartially.
