Hong Kong Journalists Association and Hong Kong Press Photographers Association condemn deliberate attacks on reporter and cameraman

A reporter and a cameraman from TVB were attacked around 12 am on November 10, as they were covering protests in Mong Kok, some people asked them to show their press cards. After the reporter showed his press card, someone pushed him down and kicked the cameraman’s head and feet. The team was forced to leave.

Hong Kong Journalists Association and Hong Kong Press Photographers Association condemn such brutal interference in reporting, and also noticed online calls for violence against media organizations and intimidation of frontline journalists, hoping that the authorities would follow up.

Both of the associations require all parties to immediately stop any act of obstruction, interference or violence against journalists, so that frontline journalists can effectively perform their duty of defending the fourth power.
