Hong Kong Free Press Is Recruiting Social Media & Production Manager

To begin in August 2023. HKFP’s social media and production manager will manage the outlet’s social media feeds and repackage stories for different platforms. They will also oversee HKFP’s newsletters, SEO and analytics, photo and video management, as well as assist with podcast production, design and administrative tasks. Though this role requires some editorial input and judgement, it does not generally involve any day-to-day news reporting.

Requirements:

  • Applicants with existing experience in social media management will be prioritised.
  • English-language fluency is essential, Chinese fluency is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Hong Kong political beat and an eye for news are a must. Candidates must have knowledge of who’s-who in local politics, and a good understanding of how the government, legislature and judicial system work.
  • The ideal candidate would have excellent initiative, time-management and must be a team player.
  • Experience with WordPress, Buffer, Trello, Figma, Premiere and Photoshop would be welcomed, whilst photography and video skills, knowledge of the law, social networking, SEO and analytics would be a bonus.
  • Candidates must have the right to work – and be based – in Hong Kong.
